I teach quantitative methods at all levels, from introductory statistics to graduate seminars on machine learning and text analysis. All courses emphasise understanding over black-box application and work with real research data.

Text Analysis and Machine Learning Methods for Economic Research

Quantitative text analysis for economic research: text preprocessing, supervised classification, clustering, word embeddings, topic models (LDA/STM), and an introduction to transformer models and LLMs. Students work with real corpora such as parliamentary speeches.
Machine Learning with R
Seminar, in English · Winter term 2025/26 (new)
Supervised and unsupervised ML methods for economists: regularisation, tree-based methods, model evaluation, and ML for causal inference. Hands-on implementation in the tidymodels ecosystem; assessed via an independent project with real economic data.

Large introductory statistics course serving seven degree programmes across three faculties. Covers descriptive statistics, probability, estimation, and hypothesis testing. Uses live polling (PINGO) and real-world examples drawn from election data, sports statistics, and a student-generated survey.
